James Gray Water Wells was established in 1965 in Gilford, NH. James Gray, originally from Northwood, NH, started out with a circa 1950 cable tool drill rig – a Bucyrus 22-W. The first well he drilled was for his own home in Gilford, where he and his wife Pat still live and run the family business along with their two sons, Jim & Doug.
Over the next 5 years “Big Jim” bought two more cable tool drills and in 1970 he purchased his first rotary drill – a second-hand table drive rig.
In 1972 son Jim joined the company and son Doug came on board in 1975.
Today, they run modern top head drive rotary drills. Along with Big Jim, James Gray Water Wells has three NH licensed drillers on the team and four NH licensed pump installers and certified water conditioner technicians. Every job has licensed professionals on site from the first visit through completion.
